Romania’s Roxana Cocos won the bronze medal at the Weightlifting World Cup in Paris, lifting 136 kilograms in the 63-kilogram category’s clean and jerk event. Roxana was 6th in the snatch event, lifting 107 kilograms. Thus, Roxana finished on 4th place in the overall rankings, with a total of 243 kilograms. Russia’s Svetlana Tarukaeva topped the overall rankings (255 kg – 117 kg in the snatch event and 138 kg in the clean and jerk event), followed by Kazakhstan’s Maia Maneza (248 kg – 109 kg in the snatch event and 138 kg in the clean and jerk event), and China’s Ouyang Xiaofang (246 kg – 113 kg in the snatch event and 133 kg in the clean and jerk event).
In the men’s competition, Romania’s Antoniu Buci (69 kilogram category) finished on 33rd place in the overall rankings with a total of 300 kilograms. North Korea’s Kim Un Guk topped the rankings of the snatch event with 150 kg, followed by China’s Zhang Jie (145 kg) and Turkey’s Bunyamin Sezer (141 kg). China’s Zhang topped the rankings in the clean and jerk event with 176 kg, followed by Indonesia’s Eko Yuli Irawan (171 kg) and North Korea’s Kim Un Guk (170 kg).
