A consortium made up of an investment bank and a law firm which will be entrusted with identifying a strategic investor to become a minority shareholder in Posta Romana will be selected by the end of January 2012, the Ministry of Communications recently announced, quoted by HotNews.ro.
The measure is meant to ensure the company’s economic and managerial recovery and the state would remain the majority shareholder, the ministry’s officials stated. The company which will perform Posta Romana’s evaluation for this process will also be appointed by the end of December.
According to the ministry, representatives of postal companies in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and Sweden have voiced an interest in Posta Romana so far. Posta Romana reported RON 427,000-earnings in the third quarter of 2011 (July to September), against RON 21.6 M-losses for the same interval of the preceding year.
