Enel Romania turns Izvoarele into the first Romanian locality with green lighting

The Izvoarele commune of Giurgiu County has become the first locality in Romania that will use only economic light bulbs, following a social responsibility project initiated by Enel Romania, aimed at increasing the awareness about curbing power consumption at home. According to a press release, Enel Romania replaced 7,500 old (incandescent) bulbs in 2,500 homes of Izvoarele, thus allowing its inhabitants to save RON 280,000 each year by using the new, economic light bulbs. Izvoarele has been chosen as site for this initiative after a thorough evaluation made by a committee appointed by Enel Romania. The project will run next year, in order to increase the awareness of reasonably using electricity and creating real case studies of the communities that choose to live in accord with the latest standards of a responsible usage of energy.
