European Action Group of Moldova holds new meeting

Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi chaired on Monday in Brussels the fifth meeting of the European Action Group of the Republic of Moldova, underlining the importance of maintaining internal stability and the pace of reforms to back the Chisinau Government’s pro-European path, a Foreign Ministry (MAE) release informs. According to MAE, during the meeting participants underlined the need to maintain a steady pace of internal reforms as a necessary condition for a closer relation with the EU. Participants exchanged opinions on the present political context in Moldova, as the president’s election by the Parliament draws near on November 18, 2011. At the same time, they welcomed the intention of organizing a 5+2 formal reunion in Vilnius, as EU member states voiced their hope a solution may be found to the Transnistria conflict.
