LAMENTO & GIOIA – an Italian music recital

Budapest soprano Judit Andrejszki and teorba and baroque guitar player Caius Hera of Timisoara will be performing an Italian Early Baroque music recital at the Music Salon of the Cantacuzino Palace (141, Calea Victoriei), today, 6.30 pm.
Judit Andrejszki is a soprano specialising in medieval, renaissance and baroque music. Ms. Andrejszki is also an accomplished clavichord player. Judit Andrejszki has also been engaged in several world and folk music projects. Caius Hera studied classical guitar at the University of Music in Timisoara, where he discovered such little approached genres as the music of the Middle Ages, Renaissance and the Baroque era. A former member of the chamber group “Camerata Strumentale Timisoara”, he gas been collaborating since 2010 with the Sf. Gheorghe-based old music ensemble CODEX. Caius Hera and Judit Andrejszki also have a project going, called Old Music at the Baroque Palace in Timisoara, including theme concerts and presentations of renaissance and baroque instruments from the clavichord and the lute family. Teorba is a 17th century string instrument resembling the lute, with a long extended neck and up to 14 bass strings called bourdoni. Unlike the classical guitar, its baroque counterpart has five double chords and demands a particular chord pinching technique.
