Senators oppose physical tests for policemen

The members of the Senate’s Administration Commission did not give their green light to the draft law that seeks to make it compulsory for policemen to undergo an annual physical evaluation. PDL Senator Petru Filip was the only one that defended the draft. “The draft law should not be held in contempt because policemen have to run after criminals on the streets, they won’t ride bikes or motorcycles. Will we reach the point in which some policemen will die running after criminals?” Filip stated, being quoted by Mediafax. The draft stipulates that policemen that fail to show up for the physical evaluation or that fail to pass it twice will be fired. Urban’s draft will be debated and voted within the Senate’s plenum meeting.
