President receives Russian envoy in farewell visit

President Traian Basescu yesterday at Cotroceni Palace received Russian Ambassador Alexander Churilin, in a farewell visit, according to Mediafax. During the meeting, Churilin said he was sorry to end his term. “I have enjoyed my stay here, there are excellent people. (…) We have had a fruitful cooperation, I don’t mean to say that this is entirely my contribution, this is joint work that will continue in the future, my friends here know very well that we have worked together,” the Russian envoy said.

During their talks, President Basescu expressed appreciation for Churilin’s attire, as the ambassador was dressed in a dark blue military uniform. “I remember that when you came to Bucharest, you were dressed the same,” Basescu said. “I know you are a navy man and that you like this colour,” Churilin replied.

Also yesterday, Basescu received the newly appointed ambassador of India, Manimekalai Murugesan, who presented the accreditation letters to the head of state.
