Sorin Ovidiu Vintu loses civil lawsuit against PM Emil Boc

Businessman Sorin Ovidiu Vintu lost the civil lawsuit against PM Emil Boc, in which he sought damages worth EUR 1 M for the premier’s statements about the FNI scam and a possible involvement in a coup d’etat, as the Bucharest Tribunal rejected the accusations yesterday. The verdict may be challenged at the Court of Appeals. Last week, in a hearing with the magistrates of the Bucharest Tribunal, PM Boc said that it is of notoriety, and also demonstrated by the transcripts of conversations recorded in the Vintu case, that the businessman allied himself with politicians, in view of suspending President Traian Basescu – a move that can generate political instability.
