Finnish ambassador, impressed by Romanian Border Police’s equipment

The Finnish ambassador to Romania Alla Vaisto stated on Saturday, while visiting the Sculeni checkpoint (Iasi County), that she had been impressed by the Iasi Border Police’s equipment, as well as by the thorough border checks. “The equipment I’ve seen is very up-to-date. We wanted to find out how staff is recruited and whether they are well-prepared. I reached a positive conclusion and I’m leaving Iasi with a good impression. The combination between the best equipment and staff is important. Romania takes such things seriously,” the Finnish ambassador stated, quoted by Mediafax. Alla Vaisto argued her country agreed to a compromise solution as regards Romania’s and Bulgaria’s joining the Schengen Area, but added the next report of the Mechanism for Cooperation and Verification was an important factor.
