Nude by Tonitza appraised at EUR 150,000-250,000 in Artmark Winter Auction

The most valuable nude bearing Nicolae Tonitza’s signature, evaluated at EUR 150,000-250,000, will be on sale in the Winter Auction to take place on December 14 at the Romanian Athenaeum. The auction is organized by Artmark House, marking three years since the latter’s founding, a press release informs.

The highlight of the auction is the most valuable nude signed by Nicolae Tonitza ever put on sale: “In the Chamber”, a work included in the “Treasury” category of the National Movable Cultural Heritage.

Besides the 2011 Winter Auction, Artmark will mark three years since its founding by the “100 Masterpieces” exhibition organized in Iasi. Both events will bring together masterpieces signed by Ioan Andreescu, Nicolae Grigorescu, Camil Ressu, Nicolae Tonitza, Theodor Pallady, Octav Bancila, Nicolae Darascu, J.A. Steriadi and Gheorghe Petrascu.

The works in the auction will be on display Saturday to auction day, 11am to 9pm.
