Investments for 2012, insufficient to relaunch constructions sector

The sum earmarked for investments in 2012 is not enough to relaunch the constructions sector, to avoid a series of bankruptcies and to keep the qualified labour force in the country, Cristian Erbasu, President of the Federation of Construction Companies (FPSC), stated at the ‘Romania Construct Forum’ organized by Mediafax. He added that the funds for investments in constructions should be hiked by 10-20 per cent in 2012. Present at the event, Marius Marin, Vice President of the ‘Pro BCA’ Association of Producers of Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (BCA) and CEO of Macon Company, added that two new houses per one thousand people are built in Romania annually, more than 50% below the European average, and in order to recover the difference the number of houses built each year has to be doubled to 100,000 units.  Eugen Curteanu, Secretary of State within the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism (MDRT) stated that the Ministry’s 2012 budget is a cautious one and is mainly meant to cover the RON 1.09 bln owed in arrears. RON 110 M were earmarked for the programme for the construction of homes meant to be rented by young Romanians. RON 35 M were earmarked for the social housing programme, MDRT planning to complete 423 apartments next year and to finance the completion of 883 apartments whose construction was contracted in previous years.
