Crime boss Bercea Mondial remains in custody

Crime boss Sandu Anghel, aka Bercea Mondial, will remain in custody after the Craiova Court of Appeals yesterday accepted prosecutors’ appeal to a release order from a lower court, Mediafax reported. Earlier this month, the Olt Tribunal ruled that Bercea Mondial be allowed out of custody and instead banned from leaving the city of residence. The crime boss was taken into custody in February this year, on charges of attempted murder against his nephew, Ionut Anghel. Bercea Mondial told the court yesterday that he is innocent and insisted that his nephew should be the one on trial, on charges of false incrimination.
