Four persons wounded after train hits tanker

Four persons were lightly injured yesterday morning in Brasov County after a train hit a tanker carrying 30 tons of diesel oil. According to Ciprian Sfreja, spokesperson of the county’s Emergency Situations Inspectorate (ISU), the accident took place at a railway crossing on the Brasov – Zarnesti railway line, near Rasnov. “We intervened with two fire engines and four SMURD units. Four train passengers were lightly injured (…) and the doctors are giving them assistance on the spot. We’ve sealed the area but there is no risk of fire or explosion,” Sfreja stated for Mediafax. Railway traffic was interrupted for several hours. The National Railway Company (CFR) announced in a press communiqué that the train involved in the accident belongs to SC Regiotrans, a private operator.
