Dinamo and Astra Ploiesti finished in a tie their Sunday evening game counting for the last leg of the first half of the season. Dinamo thus failed to take a bigger lead over its main rivals but nevertheless managed to safeguard its position at the top of the rankings, 1 point ahead of CFR Cluj.
“The first half of the season ended today (Sunday – editor’s note) and we managed to finish at the top. I’m pleased with that, especially since nobody credited us with any chances at the start of the season. We had chances to score but lacked inspiration. I’m disappointed with the result but pleased with how we played. It’s also an obvious case of fatigue,” Dinamo head coach Liviu Ciobotariu stated after the game, being quoted by gsp.ro.
Dinamo has 37 points, while CFR Cluj is second with 36 points. CFR and Steaua finished their Saturday game in a tie, score 1-1. Rapid was defeated by Otelul Galati on Sunday, score 2-0, and remains 3rd with 34 points. Antal and Iorga scored the winning goals in the 28th and 63rd minutes respectively.
Otelul head coach Dorinel Munteanu stated that it would be “stupid” to think about the title at this moment. “I’m very happy we won the three points. Although Rapid had chances to score we showed more pragmatism and deserved to win. It would be stupid to think about the title now; we’re taking it gradually, game by game. Although I couldn’t use a lot of players, the ones that played have shown I can rely on them. Antal is a player Otelul can’t afford losing. He’s a valuable player and I’ll insist on him extending his contract with Otelul,” Munteanu said for Mediafax. “We started poorly, we had a soft start and we allowed them to enter the game. We sinned because we wanted to pass the ball up to the opponents’ goal line. The result is not fair, we dominated the game and we’re guilty. When you miss chances you lose some of your focus, some of your confidence, and the opponents play with peace of mind and take advantage of their chances,” Rapid head coach Razvan Lucescu stated for Digisport.
In the other games that took place on Sunday, Sportul Studentesc finished its home game against Petrolul in a tie, score 1-1. Dobre scored for Sportul (54th minute) and Komazek scored for Petrolul (48th minute). CS Mioveni lost its home game against Vointa Sibiu, score 1-2. Tatar (31st minute) and Dalbea (62nd minute) scored for Vointa, while Vasile (72nd minute) scored for CS Mioveni.
