Leclerc to enter Romanian market next year

French hypermarket chain Leclerc could crack the Romanian market next year, with the first store to be erected on the former industrial platform of Chimopar, a manufacturer of chemical products on the Theodor Pallady Boulevard in Bucharest. The location was purchased this year by Cyprus’s Meveco Holding, retail market sources told Mediafax. “Meveco seeks to rent out two plots of land, one of 16000 sq m to a hardware retailer, and another one of 14000 sqm, to Leclerc, a French chain of food stores, on the grounds bought from Chimopar earlier this year. The investors will begin the construction works next spring,” the sources also said. Meveco officials would not comment on the information.
