PDL eyes referendum on constitutional amendments in April

The mandate with which the Democrat Liberal Party (PDL) will go to consultations proposed by President Traian Basescu stipulates fast-track amendments to the Constitution incorporating the economic demands discussed at EU level, as well as a reduction in the number of lawmakers, with a referendum to be held in April of next year, Premier Emil Boc said on a B1TV program Monday evening. The PM also defended of former Cluj mayor Sorin Apostu, who is remanded in connection to a corruption case file. Boc is convinced that the former mayor is innocent, arguing that Apostu “has modernized the city and he loves his family”.
