Romania to host the most important canine event in 2012

Over 10,000 purebred dogs, 20,000 handlers, 100 judges and 50,000 visitors are expected to the most important canine event in Europe – Euro Dog Show 2012, organised by the Romanian Kennel Club at Romexpo in October 5 – 7.

The estimative budget of the show is approximately EUR 1 M. ‘We are also hoping to have the support of the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism, as, in our opinion, it would be a strategic partner in this endeavour. This dog show will also help promote Romania abroad. We believe it will be the biggest event in Romania in the last 50 years,’ said Romanian Kennel Club (AChR) President Cristian Stefanescu during a press conference attended by the Honorary President of the Kennel Club, Bogdan Emerich and officials from MSA Events, Show Tailors and Romexpo. The press conference held yesterday actually marked the beginning of the promotion of the competition and of the “Euromania 2012” exhibition circuit.

‘Four international exhibitions will precede the Euro Dog Show. This exhibition circuit was called ‘Euromania 2012’ and will start in Targu Mures on September 30 with the famous ‘Dracula Golden Trophy’ event and will end on October 4 in Bucharest,’ said AChR Vice-President Petru Muntean.

The event is to be held under the high patronage of Mugur Isarescu, Governor of the Romanian National Bank.

The same conference introduced the official websites of the events with information of interest to the foreign and local participants. Online registration also began together with the official launching of the website of the European dog show in Bucharest. Organisers expect that 1,000 to 2,000 of the 10,000 dogs to be registered will be from Romania. An important part of the 2012 dog show will be the presentation and promotion of local breeds. On that occasion, Romanian  cynology will celebrate 85 years since the foundation of the first national kennel club which, in 1933, became a member of the Fédération Cynologique Internationale.
