Romanian ambassador to Rome’s mandate due to expire Dec 20

Razvan Rusu’s ambassadorial tenure to Rome will expire on December 20, Mediafax quoted diplomatic sources as saying yesterday, adding that President Traian Basescu will sign the decree for recalling the ambassador to the country. Razvan Rusu, 41, has been Romania’s Ambassador to Rome since December 2007, his first position as head of a diplomatic mission. President Basescu harshly criticised Ambassador Razvan Rusu on Monday for not attending a Rome performance attended by 7,000 Romanians on Romania’s National Day, and expressed his hope the diplomat “will get home quite soon”.
