Photograph of the Chiajna Monastery, winner of Wiki Love Monuments 2011 contest

A photograph of the Chiajna-Giulesti Monastery won the European section of the Wiki Love Monuments 2011 contest organised by the Wikimedia website. The photograph was shot by photographer Mihai Petre and presents the Chiajna-Giulesti Monastery near Bucharest in a hibernal landscape. The photograph includes the profile of a person within a short distance from one of the entries to the monastery. A mural painting at a country estate in Purila (Estonia) took the second place, and a photography of the ruins of former Anhausen Monastery, near Satteldorf (Germany) ranked 3rd. Over 165,000 from 18 countries entered the contest. Each country organised a national contest to nominate 10 photographs which were than assessed by an international jury.
