Senate extends area of disciplinary infringements in the case of magistrates

The Senate yesterday passed with 75 votes to 30, and 6 abstentions, a draft law that extends the area of disciplinary infringements in the case of judges and prosecutors and creates the Legal Inspection, as a legal entity reporting to the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM). According to Mediafax, the draft law extends the area of disciplinary infringements in the case of magistrates, also by instating the disciplinary sanction of suspension up to 6 months. The draft law was initially rejected in the Chamber of Deputies, but the Senate has the final say in this case. Senator Dan Sova announced that PSD will challenge the draft law to the Constitutional Court.
