Bucharest’s Radio Hall hosts tomorrow from 9pm Grigores Lese’s special Christmas concert. The concert titled “Waiting for Christmas” offers us a glimpse into a world filled with the deep sense of lived ritual, meant to restore order in a universe which hasn’t lost the memory of myth. The programme consists in a range of pre-Christian winter songs, Christmas star carols and religious songs gathered and adapted by Grigore Lese. The artist is accompanied on stage by five exceptional female voices, with ancient colour, which can only be heard live in Grigore Lese’s concerts. Beside Christmas carols, we find old folk songs associated to rites of passage or important human emotions (doina, songs of woe, soldiers’ songs, etc.). Alongside his unique voice, the artist also plays on a range of folk instruments, including the flute, the pipe, the whistle, the bell board, etc.
