Leclerc denies intention to make an entry on Romanian market

The hypermarket chain has no intention to make an entry on the local market next year, denying rumours in the press. The first such unit in Romania was allegedly to be opened on the premises of the old chemical products manufacturer Chimopar, on Theodor Pallady Blvd. “Leclerc denies these reports. They are nothing but rumours,” company officials stated for money.ro. Leclerc is Carrefour’s main competitor on the French market. The retailer operates 627 hypermarkets, supermarkets and shops in France, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Slovenia, and ranks second on the French market after Carrefour, claiming a market share of 17 pc.
