The Professional Football League’s (LPF) and the Romanian Football Federation’s (FRF) awards ceremony took place on Monday evening. None of the winners of the awards were present at the Gala of Professional Football, an event organized at the Crystal Palace Ballrooms, a location belonging to LPF President Dumitru Dragomir, realitatea.net informs. FRF and LPF jointly organized such an event for the first time. The festivities did not go as the organizers had planned, since none of the winners were there to receive their prizes, ‘Gazeta Sporturilor’ informs.
Vasile Avram, the former head of the Central Commission of Referees (CCA) who is charged with bribery, was the man of the evening. Most of the guests, including FRF President Mircea Sandu, went to his table to salute him. Avram attended the event along with his son, Marius Avram. National team head coach Victor Piturca was absent.
At the start of the gala, awards were conferred to former football stars Dumitru Munteanu, Zavoda, Gojgaru and Parcalab. Mircea Sandu and Dumitru Dragomir gave each of them three bottles of vodka and champagne and RON 1,000.

Rookie of the year: Cristian Balgradean (Dinamo)
Man of the year: Mihai Nesu
