New Chinese ambassador presents letters of accreditation

The president Traian Basescu met on Monday at Cotroceni Palace Huo Yuzhen, the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Romania, who officially presented her letters of accreditation. According to a release by the Presidential Administration, the head of state congratulated the Chinese envoy on being appointed ambassador to Romania and wished her a successful time in office. “On this occasion, the president voiced Romania’s interest in strengthening ties with the People’s Republic of China, which has been a traditional friend of Romania. President Basescu underlined that the economic component should be a priority on the bilateral agenda, as the two states are already pursuing a number of joint economic projects and hoping to implement new investment projects discussed recently with the Chinese side,” the release further reads. During the meeting, the Chinese diplomat qualified bilateral ties as excellent. At the same time, she pleaded, in turn, for a closer political and economic dialogue between Romania and China, the same source argues.
