“22/22. Bucharest Street Demonstrations 1989-1990” exhibition at MTR

On the 22th anniversary of the events in December 1989, the Romanian Peasant Museum invites you Thursday, Dec 22, 4.00 pm, the Foyer Hall, at the opening of the exhibition “22/22. Bucharest Street Demonstrations 1989-1990” in photographs shot by Vlad Columbeanu. The exhibition, opened in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute, seeks to revive our memory about the succession of events and the streets and squares that witnessed the protests starting on Dec. 21, 1989 and carrying on into October of next year.

We will therefore relive the “Revolution and the beginning of Transition” in black-and-white photographs shot by photographer Vlad Columbeanu, a witness of those moments of suspicions, terror, confusion and hope. The nearly 50 photographs have also been shown  in the November-December 2009 exhibition “1989-1990 in Romania”, organized on the occasion of the international colloquium “After 20 years…”. The exhibition is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10.00 am – 6.00 pm, every week, until Jan 15, 2012.
