National anthem made compulsory in schools

The Senate on Wednesday adopted a PDL proposal for the modification of Law 75/1994 making the intonation of the national anthem compulsory in classrooms in the primary and middle education cycles. The legislative proposal was adopted with 56 votes ‘in favour’, 37 ‘opposed’ and an abstention.

The amending of the law on the masting of the national flag, intonation of the national anthem and the use of seals containing the coat of arms of Romania also makes the display of the national flag above the blackboard mandatory in all classrooms in the primary and middle education cycles.
