Radio Romania Cultural offers this holiday season the best concerts in the “Jazz Series”, a project organized by Radio Romania Cultural in 2011 in collaboration with the Act Theatre, with the support of the Radio Musical Ensembles. The protagonists of the concerts hosted by the Act Theatre in 2011 are the pianist George Natsis, saxophonist Cristian Soleanu, contrabassist Adrian Flautistu and percussionist Vlad Popescu, joined by first-rank names of the local and international jazz scene – guitarists Sorin Romanescu and Alex Man or trombonist Dave Stamps.
The concerts will be broadcast on December 29 and on January 3, 4 and 5, from 11pm, on Radio Romania Cultural’s wavelengths across the country. The “Best of Jazz Series” programme includes: on December 27 – Gershwin’s Beautiful World (a concert presented on February 9, 2011), December 28 -… Years after Petrucciani (March 9, 2011), December 29 – A Brief History of the Guitar (April 13, 2011), January 3 – Wayne Shorter (May 23, 2011), January 4 – The Blue Note Years (October 19, 2011) and, on January 5 – World of Brazil (November 9, 2011).
TVR Cultural viewers will also be treated to a musical feast after Christmas. They will have the chance to see Alexandru Tomescu (violin), Razvan Suma (cello) and Toma Popovici (piano), a.k.a. Trio Strad (photo), in two special concerts recorded by TVR Cultural, which will be broadcasted on December 28, 29, from 7pm, and on January 3, from 11am: the “Very Classic” recital, including works by Johannes Brahms and Antonin Dvorak, and the “Fusion Classic” recital, offered by Trio Strad alongside Berti Barbera.
