The Bucharest Transport Metropolitan Authority (AMTB) proposes to introduce by June 1 a joint fare system for RATB, Metrorex, CFR Calatori’s regional department and private transport operators, Mediafax reports. “We will try to introduce a joint fare system, to apply to all public transport operators in the metropolitan area. We are referring to private transport operators, RATB, Metrorex and CFR Calatori’s regional department,” Adrian Crit, AMTB director-general, stated. He further argued that the strategy AMTB is working on focuses on joint tickets and passes for all transport operators, means to calculate the integrated price and the distribution of the revenue derived thereof, as well as merging the sales networks. Thus, a RATB or Metrorex active card-holder will be able to ride all means of transport by charging various types of passes. Crit explained that two models would be implemented for the merging of fares. The first involves an hourly fare, while the second presupposes the introduction of several types of passes for various operators.
