According to the Driving Licenses and Car Registration Office (DRCPIV), last year the number of new car sales dropped by 13.5 per cent to 81,709 units. In December, the number of new car sales dropped by 28 per cent to 7,721 units. In what concerns second-hand cars, sales dropped by more than 50 per cent, from 214,606 units to 94,488 units. Compared to the same month the year before, in December 2011 the number of second-hand vehicles registered dropped by 80 per cent to 8,650 units. Dacia tops the number of new car sales last year with 23,585 units, followed by Volkswagen (8,734 units) and Skoda (7,568), Renault (6,872), Ford (4,815) and Opel (4,544).
