Petrom and Exxon start drilling in Black Sea

Petrom oil group and ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Romania Limited (EEPRL), an ExxonMobil branch, have started exploration drilling at the Domino-1 well, the first deep water oil well in the Romanian sector of the Black Sea, Petrom informed in a communiqué issued yesterday. It is estimated that the drilling operations will last approximately 90 days. The Domino-1 oil well is located in the Neptun bloc, 170 kilometers off shore, in waters with an approximate depth of 1 kilometer and the drilling operations will use last generation technology. The drilling will be handled by the world class ultramodern Deepwater Champion drill ship that recently arrived in Romanian waters after finishing its offshore drilling programme in Turkey.
