Former PNTCD minister Mircea Ciumara has died

Mircea Ciumara, minister of finance, industry and commerce in the 1996-2000 Romanian Democratic Convention government died Friday night into Saturday morning, Mediafax reported sources with the National Peasant Christian and Democratic Party (PNTCD) as saying. He was 68. His body had been laid in state at the Baneasa cemetery chapel and buried yesterday. Mircea Ciumara was born on September 13, 1943 in Calarasi. He was a two-term deputy, 1992-2000, finance minister between December 1996 and December 1997 and ministry of economy industry and commerce from December 1997 to April 1998. During December 1999-December 2000, he was state ministry, president of the Council for Economic and Financial Coordination and also a liaison minister with Parliament. Mircea Ciumara was PNTCD vice-president between 1996 and 2000, and president of the PNTCD Bucharest Organisation between September 1999 and December 2000.
