Motosports: Enduro champion Ahola dies in crash

Five-times and reigning Enduro world champion Mika Ahola has died in a training crash at the age of 37, Eurosport informs. Ahola retired at the start of the year and the training in Girona, Spain was only casual. The Finn won five world titles with Honda from 2007-2011 across three different classes as well as claiming the International Six Days Enduro title on seven occasions as part of Team Finland. He also claimed three individual titles at that event. Upon retiring on New Year’s Day, he said: “I gave it my all, and even though the sport took a lot, it also rewarded me with more than I could have ever imagined when I first started. I have fulfilled my ambitions and I feel that it is time to move on and see what else the world has to offer.”
