Water polo EC: Croatia defeats Romania, 10-7

Romania’s water polo team lost its first game in Group B at the European Championship in Eindhoven, being defeated by title-holder Croatia, score 10-7, the Romanian Water Polo Federation informs. Our team managed to close in at a one-goal difference (score 8-7) but the European title holders dominated the end of the game. Romania’s goals were scored by Ramiro Georgescu (2), Kalman Kadar, Alexandru Ghiban, Andrei Busila, Andrei Iosep and Cosmin Radu. “I think we played well. Don’t forget we played against Croatia, a very powerful team that won the title and is one of the top favorites in this competition,” Cosmin Radu stated for frpolo.ro.

Croatia’s Sandro Sukno stated: “The first game is always difficult. Romania is nevertheless a good team. We have to play better in the next game, against Montenegro, because it will be much more difficult than today’s game.”
