After three ballots, the members of the European Parliament (EP) elected yesterday morning, in Strasbourg, the 14 vice-presidents of the European Parliament. Romania is not represented at this level, and ranks 7th based on the number of mandates, with 7 vice-presidents of EP committees: Ioan Mircea Pascu (S&D) – Foreign Affairs, Corina Cretu (S&D) – Development, Theodor Dumitru Stolojan (EPP) – Economic and Monetary Affairs, Silvia Adriana Ticau (S&D) – Transport and Tourism, Sebastian Valentin Bodu (EPP) – Legal Affairs, Rares Niculescu (EPP) – Agriculture and Rural Development; Norica Nicolai (ALDE) – Security and Defence. Romania has many chances to keep the three positions it holds now: Marian Jean Marinescu – EPP, Rovana Plumb – S&D, Adina Valean – ALDE. (C. Dinu in Strasbourg)
