TV journalist turned politician Dan Diaconescu delivered a typical address to the participants in the first congress of his party – the People’s Party-Dan Diaconescu (PP-DD) – Saturday at the Palace of the Parliament. “Although we are alone, our numbers are increasing each day. We are the only political force in Romania that soon, maybe this very evening, will have one million members,” Diaconescu said in the first congress of PP-DD. He went on, optimistically: “I don’t think we will obtain less than 51 pc of votes.” “I will be the 2012 version of Vlad the Impaler. (…) Don’t miss my next two terms as president, because you don’t know what you’ll miss,” Diaconescu added. In the latest opinion poll released by CSOP last week, PP-DD ranked 3rd, with 12 pc of voting intentions.
