The European Commission (EC) called yesterday on Romania to abide by the EU norms for public acquisitions in the case of a EUR 110 M-contract awarded by the Bucharest District 3 Mayor’s Office, a release by the European Executive informs. According to the EC, the contract worth approx. EUR 110 M was awarded in the form of a frame-agreement running for four years. The District 3 Mayor’s Office – led by the Democrat-Liberal Liviu Negoita – did not grant the candidates enough time to draw up the bids. Should Romania fail to take all necessary measures to abide by the EU norms for public acquisitions within the following two months, the Commission is entitled to forward the matter to the Court of Justice of the European Union.
