Metro fare, also paid by SMS

Today, Orange Romania launched in partnership with Metrorex, as a national premiere, the system of payment and access to metro transport services by using a short number, available by SMS and phone call from a mobile, exclusively in the Orange network, reads a press release. Orange customers can pay their metro fare by sending a text message to 1700, which is confirmed immediately, also via text message. They can also purchase 2 or 10 trips, by the same method. The fares are: EUR 0.50 per trip, EUR 0.90 two trips, EUR 2.20 for 10 trips. In a first phase, the service is available in the metro stations Gara de Nord, Victoriei, Universitate, Petrache Poenaru, Timpuri Noi, Grozavesti and Politehnica. Furthermore, starting February 1, 2012 Orange customers can also pay via SMS the parking fee if they leave their car in front of the Romanian Athenaeum of Bucharest. By sending to 7577 a text message with the license number of their car, motorists pay one hour of parking at a price of EUR 0.40, plus VAT in the Orange network.
