“The Boy in the Last Row” opens at TNB

The production “The Boy in the Last Row”, directed by Cristian Theodor Popescu, based on Juan Mayorga’s play, opens tonight at 7.30pm at the Bucharest National Theatre (TNB), the institution informs.

The play is a story about teenagers, highlighting the problems of contemporary society. A high school teacher has his students write essays titled “How I Spent Last Weekend”. However, as the young people waste their time doing meaningless things, the papers are poor. With one exception: Claudio, the boy in the last row, has violated, in a voyeuristic attempt, the privacy of a classmate’s family home. The teacher lends the boy his support and hones his talent, becoming his accomplice.

The production will be presented at TNB’s Amphitheatre Hall. The cast includes Mihai Calin, Diana Dumbrava, Brandusa Mircea, Dan Tudor, Rares Florin Stoica and Andrei Chiran.

The play belongs to one of the most celebrated contemporary playwrights, a double laureate of the National Theatre Award in native Spain. Juan Mayorga is a Playwriting and Philosophy professor and holds a double degree, in Maths and Philosophy.
