Britain’s Carl Froch, former WBC super middleweight world champion, has announced that he has stopped all negotiations with Lucian Bute. Bute’s officials had announced a few days ago that they are ready to ignore their contract with Showtime only for the Romanian to be able to fight against Froch. The two boxers’ managers had reached an agreement for a bout on April 14 and a rematch four months later in England, but the Showtime channel stepped in and announced that it disagrees. Later on, Interbox officials stated that the bout will take place irrespective of the Americans’ option but this time Froch was the one to back down, ASport informs. Thus, the only viable option for the world’s IBF super middleweight champion is America’s Andre Dirrel, a former world title challenger and winner of a bronze medal at the Athens Olympics.
