Culture Ministry moves to new office

The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (MCPN) moved as of yesterday to the new office of the Romanian National Library on Unirii Boulevard, leaving the old office on Kiseleff Avenue, on the premises of the Village Museum, where it had been based for the past eight years. The Culture Ministry now holds three storeys in a wing of the National Library. The new office of the Romanian National Library was inaugurated on December 15, 2011. Works were initiated in the spring of 2009. Culture Minister Kelemen Hunor stated, at the time, that the “Ion Dacian” National Operetta Theatre would also move to the National Library in 2012. The total investment going into the new National Library office amounted to EUR 104,839,121, VAT not included, which came from an approx. EUR 200 M-loan granted to the Romanian Executive by the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB).
