Greek bond swap may delay Alpha Bank-EFG merger

Greece’s bond swap may delay the planned merger of the country’s second and third-largest lenders Alpha and EFG Eurobank because of uncertainties over the losses incurred from the swap, an Alpha Bank official told Reuters on Monday, Mediafax informs. In a separate statement, Eurobank said Monday “it is consulting with Alpha Bank in order to complete the merger process the soonest possible, and considers that there are no reasons to delay the completion of the merger.”
