Jaqueline Adina Cristian wins prestigious ‘Les Petits As’ tournament

Romania’s Jaqueline Adina Cristian has won the powerful ‘Les Petits As’ (the little ace) tournament, the 14-year-old defeating America’s Alicia Black (top seed) in the final, score 6-2, 6-3. Former tennis player Michael Chang handed Adina the trophy. Adina is Romania’s top tennis player in the 14-year-olds’ category. Throughout time, important players such as Marinta Hingis (1991, 1992), Kim Clijsters (1997) and Bethanie Mattek-Sands (1999; the partner with which Horia Tecau recently won the mixed doubles event at the Australian Open) won the ‘Les Petits As’ tournament. The competition took place in Tarbes, France, and 64 players from 52 countries took part in it.
