Vodafone clients can pay metro fare by text message

As of yesterday, Vodafone offers its users a service whereby they can pay by text message the access card for seven metro stations in Bucharest. According to a press release, the first stations which allow this kind of access are: Victoriei, University Square, Nord Railway Station, Timpuri Noi, Politehnica, Grozavesti and Petrache Poenaru. A one-way fare is EUR 0.5 (VAT not included). Vodafone users can pay EUR 0.9 (VAT not included) for a roundtrip and EUR 2.2 (VAT not included) for ten trips. After payment by text message, users have to call the toll-free number 1700 and to draw the phone near the special validation device set up at the station entrance.
