“Dimitrie Cantemir” Balkan music festival at Venice Carnival

The “Dimitrie Cantemir” Balkan music festival will be held February 10 to 13, within the Venice Carnival, bringing together four musical ensembles from Spain, Italy, Turkey and Romania, a release quoted by Mediafax informs. The festival is organized by the Romanian Institute for Culture and Hu­manistic Research (IRCCU) in Venice, in partnership with the “La Fenice” Theatre and Venezia Marketing & Eventi. Concerts – hosted by the “La Fenice” Theatre in Venice – will be offered by four prestigious musical ensembles: Jordi Savall & Hes­pe­rion XXI (Spain), Maraghi (Italy), Bezmara (Turkey) and the Anton Pann ensemble (Romania). On the occasion of the inaugural concert, Cristiano Chiarot, director of the “La Fenice” Theatre, and Jordi Saval, will be awarded distinctions in recognition of their contribution to promoting Roma­nian culture and Romania’s image abroad. The Venice Carnival, which is held every year 40 days before Easter, draws an average 30,000 visitors.
