Joint meeting of Romanian and Moldovan Cabinets soon

Foreign Minister Cristian Diaconescu inaugurated yesterday the new public office within the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau’s consular section. The inauguration ceremony was scheduled on the agenda of the head of Romanian diplomacy’s visit to Chisinau, the first since his appointment in office. According to the online edition of Pro TV Chisinau, the Moldovan prime-minister Vlad Filat and Romanian ambassador Marius Lazurca also attended the ceremony. “This is our largest consular office,” Cristian Diaconescu stated on this occasion, quoted by the same source. According to Moldpres, quoted by Pro TV Chisinau, Foreign Minister Cristian Diaconescu and his Moldovan counterpart Iurie Leanca announced after their meeting yesterday that the Romanian and Moldovan Cabinets would convene in a joint meeting to address topics related to cooperation, infrastructure projects and energy interconnection. Cristian Diaconescu stated that he had come to Chisinau to send a message concerning the special value he attaches to Romanian-Moldovan ties. According to the aforementioned source, the head of Romanian diplomacy denied rumours to the effect that Romania had any intention of stopping the process of awarding Romanian citizenship to Moldovan citizens.
