At the start of 2012, Lafarge, one of the world leaders in building materials, adopted a new organization following its geographical expansion and its recent refocusing on cement, aggregates and concrete. According to a press release, therefore, starting January 1, 2012, Sonia Artinian took over the position of Country CEO of Lafarge Romania. Her responsibilities cover all of Lafarge’s Cement, Aggregates and Concrete activities in the country. Artinian took over from Philippe Questiaux, who retired on January 1, 2012 after leading the Lafarge cement business in Romania for 10 years. Sonia Artinian joined Lafarge in 2008 as Senior Vice-President of Organisational Development and coordinator of Lafarge University. An engineer in biology science by profession, Sonia Artinian has an MBA from College des Ingenieurs. Before joining Lafarge, she was Vice-President with the strategy and operations consultancy firm Capgemini Consulting.
