Angela Gheorghiu, surprise guest of Vienna Opera Ball

The Romanian soprano Angela Gheorghiu is the surprise guest of this year’s edition of the Vienna Opera Ball, to take place on February 16, the artist’s management announced, quoted by Mediafax. Angela Gheorghiu will delight the guests of the Vienna Opera Ball with “Habanera” from Georges Bizet’s “Carmen” and “I Could Have Danced All Night” from the music-hall “My Fair Lady”. The Romanian public will have the opportunity to see the beloved soprano alongside Holograf at Bucharest’s Palace Hall on February 24. On this occasion, music-lovers will have a chance to listen to the latest single by Holograf, a duet that the band recorded with Angela Gheorghiu titled “Nu mai e timp”.

The Vienna Opera Ball is one of the most prestigious events of its kind, held behind closed doors at the Vienna Staatsoper. The event marks the highlight of the Vienna ball season and the guest list includes prominent cultural and public figures from Austria and elsewhere. The artistic programme of the evening will comprise ballet and waltz moments. This year marks Frenchman Dominique Meyer’s second year at the helm of the Vienna State Opera. Last year, on the first edition he organized, Dominique Meyer placed more emphasis on the cultural rather than the “glamour” component of the ball.
