Renault Group’s newest plant will be inaugurated on Thursday, February 9, in Tangier, HotNews informs. The plant will build several new Dacia models and is set to have an annual capacity that could go as high as 400,000 units. Moroccan King Mohammed VI and head of the Renault – Nissan alliance Carlos Ghosn will attend the opening ceremony. The investment totals EUR 1 bln. The plant is set to reach a production capacity of 170,000 units per year at first, however that capacity could grow to 340,000 units (or 400,000 units if the plant operates in week-ends too). The plant will start assembling two new models: the Lodgy family car that will be sold in Romania too starting in June and a utility vehicle that will be launched towards the end of this year.
