Dan Petrescu: “Steaua can eliminate Twente”

Steaua Bucharest defeated Russia’s Kuban Krasnodar (coached by Romanian Dan Petrescu) on Sunday, score 3-0, in a friendly tournament in Antalya. The goals were scored by Tatu, Nikolic and Rusescu. “Steaua was better rested and better prepared than we were. If it keeps it up Steaua might come back into the race for the title and has chances against Twente too. Before today’s game I thought Twente is the favorite 100 per cent, but after what I’ve seen now I’m sure Steaua has chances. I’m glad Ilie Stan has a free hand and is doing a very good job. I’m curious what will happen in the second half of the season. Steaua, Dinamo, CFR Cluj and Rapid will fight for the title and it will be a balanced race. It’s difficult to point out a favourite. Football results come if you work well,” Dan Petrescu stated after the game, Mediafax informs. The result came after the unexpected defeat Steaua suffered on Saturday at the hands of Concordia Chiajna (1-4). Steaua will play against Twente in Europa League’s last-16 stage. In League I, Steaua is 8 points behind leader Dinamo (40 points).
