The Iranian-born French writer and director Marjane Satrapi will be present at the gala opening of her latest film, “Chicken with Plums”, on February 10 at the French Institute in Bucharest, representatives of the Metropolis Film distribution company stated for Mediafax. Marjane Satrapi will also attend a book-signing session for her graphic novels, “Persepolis” and “Embroideries”, which came out at Art Publishing House, on February 11 from 5pm at Bucharest’s “Bastilia” bookshop. Born in 1969 in Iran, Marjane Satrapi spent her childhood in pre-revolutionary Tehran. Owing to her parents’ fear of political violences, she ended up attending a high school in Vienna. After graduating from a visual communication M.A. in Tehran, Satrapi went to Strasbourg and eventually moved to Paris, where she works as an illustrator and film director.
